Beauty to us is not all about feather, manes, fat, or skinny. Beauty to us is about a living creature that has the ability too engulf you in kindness with ease without even knowing they are doing it. That creature asks for nothing, but has the ability to give you the feeling of peace possibly for the first time in your life. She makes you feel like you can make it through another day. Every day she melts your heart, with the way she nuzzles you with her whiskers that send chills down your spine. That creature that looks at you with adoring eyes as if she is smiling and content just because you are around. That creature is our horse Wanna. In 2009 our Vet asked us if we would possibly be interested in taking on a gray TB broodmare that was having trouble keeping weight on and had been a broodmare for 15 years. She had just lost a foal that was upside down and backwards and needed a new home. Her loving owners wanted her to live a wonderful life as she had given them so much. They chose to save our Wanna and let the foal trot over the rainbow. Those of you who know us know we couldn't resist going and looking at Wanna and seeing if she could possibly fit into our gentle Gypsy Vanner Horses here at our ranch. We saw her in the distance, a ordinary looking gray thoroughbred horse. They said she was very difficult to catch. So we were prepared to just look and not touch. Well happily, we walked right up to Wanna and started loving on her. And it was OVER! It must have been meant to be. She would be with us for the rest of her life.
Because she had not been ridden since her days as a race horse we knew that we probably wouldn't be able to just jump on and go for a ride. And if we did, it would be a ride we wouldn't necessarily want! But that being said, we really didn't care. Wanna was born in 1994 and needed a place to call her own. Skip ahead to about 4 months after she was home with us. Shortly after Wanna got here we decided to see how she would like a trail ride. As she had been so good with a saddle on her back, thanks to our niece Tarra! And YES that is Wanna in the water with McKenzie on her back. Tarra was the first person to ride Wanna and she told us in her mind she was VERY SOUND and very quiet. SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! THANK YOU TARRA!!!!! ![]()
Wanna has our hearts. When we go out with her she comes too us. She never runs. She would rather let us scratch her and hug her and love on her than take a treat. She is truly a pocket horse. Every day the relationship gets stronger. Wanna loves being loved!
McKenzie also feels she has a new friend in Wanna!
I don't have any pictures of the day Tarra got on Wanna. But it was non eventful. Wanna trusted Tarra. The two did great together. And that is how this all happened. McKenzie now rides Wanna and Wanna enjoys going different places and exploring with McKenzie! How lucky could we get! Wanna has given us so much here at our place. Wanna has fallen in love with our Gypsy weanlings, been great in the herd, and above all she has been a perfect riding horse. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I am so happy to have my babies back! ![]() ![]() Wanna Content With Her Weanlings! So this is Wanna's page! Her name is short for (I Wanna Belt) her registered name! We didn't name her! LOL And if she could read this page we would say to her~~~~ Thank you for picking us Wanna. We Love You! Thank you for giving us so much love and trust. And thank you so much for being the BEAUTIFUL girl you are! Enjoy your retirement young lady. A picture speaks a thousand words, enjoy the pictures of our Wanna with people and other horses. We will update them periodically so please come back and check on her! Now Wanna is not for sale, and she is not a Gypsy Horse. So you may ask us why we have a web page specifically for our dear Wanna. Well, it is because she deserves one! And she is a member of our family. |
Thank you for considering our Gypsy Vanner Horses
